The forgotten problem

Unmapped slums and refugee settlements with their unheard stories of crises

From lacking access to free education schemes to being denied maternal and primary healthcare, Asia's and Africa's slums and refugee settlements are infamous for being stuck in the inaccessible information gap and their day-to-day struggles to avail basic amenities are made worse by the structural barriers.

48.8/thousand neonatal maternal mortality rate recorded in India's urban slums.

68%of India's urban slum chidren are illiterate.

40,000 non-registered Rohingyan refugees in India and 300 refugee families in Swaziland's Mpaka camp being denied food and healthcare.

We can do a lot but we can’t do it alone

We believe that heroes are already there. We communicate our data to partner nonprofit and government organizations to colloratively deliver assistance to those who need it the most. We are trying to identify the day-to-day humanitarian crises over the slums and refugee camps of India and Swaziland. Want to deliver assistance to the communities?

Said about us

“It's the only voice that I trust. Not the government and not even my husband. From helping with my two pregnancies and educating me about government financial and banking schemes, the MeraSMS people have always been with my family.”
